Hi! It has been a while since I create a full-on watercolor card, so I decided to bring back watercoloring to my projects for a while. I have how soothing this technique is – so easy and forgiving, and helps me be more patient!
I have been wanting to use the Swallowtail stamp set with watercoloring and finally got around to using it. I wanted the card to capture all those beautiful details of the image so I decided to use the emboss resist watercoloring technique. Bright White Super Fine Embossing Powder from WOW! does a perfect job in getting fine details so I used it on to the image and heat set it.
For the butterfly, I used some red and purple colors to create a bright, feminine feeling. I used Peerless Watercolor Set for today’s card – these watercolor papers are packed with lots of pigment so little bit goes a very long way. I also used MyArtscape’s fine brush to add colors. I did a detailed review on those brush set few weeks ago and you can check it out here (there is also a discount code!).
I added soft blue colors for the rest of the card to create a simple sky background. The focus was supposed to be on the butterfly, so I chose a very simple “hello” greeting from the Hand Lettered Hello Stamp Set by Wplus9.
Watercoloring can be so easy and simple, if you know just how to do so. It doesn’t require much technique skills because it can be very forgiving. And who can resist this bright and soft result from watercoloring?
