Hello! Day 10 of 2014 Holiday Card Series features a bold and elegant poinsettias card. Also, I used a bit of different technique to pop out the main part of the card. Please check out the tutorial below to see how this card comes together.
Bold outlined stamp set images are so great to work with when you do lots of coloring. I especially love this Poinsettias Stamp Set by Inspired By Stamping. They just released bunch of cool holiday sets and they are so worth it to check out! I wanted to pop out the flowers well, so I used Versafine Onyx Black Ink to stamp them. It gives such a great, clear and crisp outline images.
I added colors to the poinsettias using some pigment ink pads and Fantastix tools. It is so easy to apply colors using this tool since it has a point tip that makes it easier for us to get into tricky areas. I usually use one Fantastix tool per color family so they do not get mixed up and get dirty. (They are price friendly as well!)
One thing that really helps the stamped images to stand out is by adding a popped out frame around it. As you can see here, I die cut out the main part using the Peed A Frame Die Set and used the negative piece to be attached onto the card base using some foam tape. The actual focal point is added flat – this actually grabs attention easier than just popping out the focal point alone without the frames.
The heat embossed sentiment with Gold Rich Powder contrasts really well against the red colored poinsettias. Few of the Clear Sequins and Gold Sequins were added as a final touch.
Bold, elegant, and classic. What do you think?
