Happy Thursday! I am back home from Creativation 2019 and so excited to share a brand new project I’ve enjoyed so much creating. We are kicking off today with an awesome release by Altenew and today’s project features one of my favorite stamps!
Before I get into more details on today’s card with words and pictures, I wanted to share a step-by-step video tutorial you can follow along. It is a very simple card to create, so feel free to give it a try with me!
Alcohol markers are not only great for filling in every crooks and crannies of a stamped image, but also great for creating a loose, blended look so that you could make it look like a watercolored look in a way.
I wanted to do something super quick, simple and easy that takes marker coloring to feel less daunting for those who are starting out. And by leaving some white spaces, you can easily create this loosely “painted” look.
Any beautiful background stamp set would work for this technique, in this card I used the Beautiful Blossom stamp set.
This stamp set is actually pretty unique in a way that you can create a continuous image by stamping on top or on the bottom to make longer backgrounds. How amazing is that?!
To color in the flowers of the stamp set, I used some blue shades and green shades of Artist Markers and blended few different shades together. In the video tutorial, you will be able to see a tip-to-tip technique I use to make blending easier when working with big color gaps.
I went very loosely with coloring and didn’t mind going over the lines time to time. After all, that is the whole point of creating this look! I also left a few images as is, so that the card can shine the detailed stamp image and the colored images at the same time.
For a quick finishing touch, I stamped the sentiment on a black cardstock and heat set it using a gold embossing powder. Quick and easy!
