**VIDEO+GIVEAWAY** Watercolored Look Coloring w/ Alcohol Markers

January 24, 2019

Happy Thursday! I am back home from Creativation 2019 and so excited to share a brand new project I’ve enjoyed so much creating. We are kicking off today with an awesome release by Altenew and today’s project features one of my favorite stamps!

Before I get into more details on today’s card with words and pictures, I wanted to share a step-by-step video tutorial you can follow along. It is a very simple card to create, so feel free to give it a try with me!

Alcohol markers are not only great for filling in every crooks and crannies of a stamped image, but also great for creating a loose, blended look so that you could make it look like a watercolored look in a way.

I wanted to do something super quick, simple and easy that takes marker coloring to feel less daunting for those who are starting out. And by leaving some white spaces, you can easily create this loosely “painted” look.

Any beautiful background stamp set would work for this technique, in this card I used the Beautiful Blossom stamp set.

This stamp set is actually pretty unique in a way that you can create a continuous image by stamping on top or on the bottom to make longer backgrounds. How amazing is that?!

To color in the flowers of the stamp set, I used some blue shades and green shades of Artist Markers and blended few different shades together. In the video tutorial, you will be able to see a tip-to-tip technique I use to make blending easier when working with big color gaps.

I went very loosely with coloring and didn’t mind going over the lines time to time. After all, that is the whole point of creating this look! I also left a few images as is, so that the card can shine the detailed stamp image and the colored images at the same time.

For a quick finishing touch, I stamped the sentiment on a black cardstock and heat set it using a gold embossing powder. Quick and easy!

What is your favorite product from today’s release? Let me know by commenting below, you will also automatically be entered into the giveaway!

What a wonderful idea to create a detailed stamp set like this so you can use the bottom of the stamp set to match up with the top. Someone had their thinking cap on with this one. Thanks for the video showing how to do that loose colouring. It’s my kind as I’m not good a shading. My favourite from what I’ve seen on the hop so far are the Mask Stencils. Another great idea!

Wow! You have given me some really great ideas. Love how you use the lighter colored marker and add the darker by touching them. The colors coordinate better that way. Also, I struggle with my banners being even and will try the process you used. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and creativity!

I know I say it with every release lol but this Altenew Release is fabulous!! I am always all about the tropical so I was thrilled to see the Hibiscus Garden 3D Die Set, of course this is my #1 favorite from this release with all the rest following lol. Thanks as always for the awesome inspiration with your card, I’m heading over to watch the video. (mardy14@bellsouth.net)

It may be a simple card to create but it’s very pretty and I think you captured the “sketchyness” of the stamp so well with your coloring Nicole

Great video and beautiful card! Like the idea of loosely coloring. It really does resemble water coloring. Also like the idea of only coloring some of the flowers. There is so much detail in this stamp that it still looks beautiful when not fully colored. Thanks for the inspiration!

Lovely card, the white space with the black sentiment really makes the flowers pop! I have too many wonderful products in this release to pick a favorite, but I love the idea of continuous stamps like this one and would like to see more of those in the future.

That came out very pretty. I like that you left some of the images just stamped in black it all works together beautifully .

May the new year is a much brighter and happier one for all of us- Happy New Year 💕

Happy Holidays and for those who are celebrating, Merry Christmas- Many of us are spending today in an unusual way this year, and many of us are also remembering those we lost. I ask that you keep others in your thoughts this holiday season 💕 sending hugs and loves to your way ❤️❤️

Made cookies and cheesecake brownies for our next door neighbors who are spending today alone. I added a little touch with stamps and inks to dress up the cookie boxes 🎁

Happy view 🥰🥰 New ink storage system for my office/studio desk. I wanted the most used inks right at my fingertips and these Alex drawers hold them perfectly. I am keeping both full sized and cubes together, along with 1 mini cube blending tool for each color family. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #scrapsandstamps #inkstorage #craftroom #craftroomorganization #homestudio
Good morning and happy Saturday lovlies!! 👋🏻👋🏻 I just realized my last post about 3-4 months ago was a glance at my studio. Lots of things happened in the past few months and Ive been just too stressed out that I lost my desire to craft. 😣Its been a rough yr for everyone and Im ready for a new start! 😍 Are you?? Im going to start working towards getting some routines where I can feel better and add creativity back to life. Why wait till Jan? We can start now 💕

I just moved and finally got around to finishing up my studio. Im such a perfectionist that it took me a while to get everything where I wanted. 😅 Im happy how it turned out and grateful that I can still have a place to work and craft. Im excited to share projects with you soon 🥰🥰🥰

Took a couple of days off this week to recharge - mental break helps a lot! 👍🏻 While I enjoyed stay-home break, I finished swatching all of #danielsmithwatercolors - now I’ll build my own palette from these and start doing some watercolor with them. Seeing all these made me really happy 🥰🥰 Swatching watercolors are one of my fav ways to distress. What creative projects are you working on this weekend?? #watercolorswatches #watercolor #danielsmithwatercolor #danielsmithartistsmaterials #colorswatches
Hello, beautiful! I decided to do something new and challenging during this #stayathome time. Took a beginner calligraphy class by @piecescalligraphy and I cant believe how fast 90min went by!! 😍😍 I have a lot of practice to do but really enjoyed learning. These are some of the things we did. My p’s are pretty horrible 😂😂 Cant wait for the next session!

Happy Monday everyone- 💕💕 I was itching for a change so the other day I moved things around a bit in my studio. (This happens more often than not 😂) Even just a tiny bit of change can bring a big difference and give a fresh feel to your daily norm. Controlling what we can and not losing hope 🙏🏻 I wish you a fabulous and lovely week ahead 💙

More therapeutic watercoloring session - I find taking the time to color each image with watercolor really helps me to relax. I think it has to do with a slow moving, soft transition of the pigments and water.

This card was made using a brand new #altenewstatementflowers stamp set and #altenewspringgarden
