Happy Monday! Starting a brand new week with a special blog hop is always a treat for stampers like us! Altenew is releasing 2 brand-stinking-new marker sets so we are going to celebrate and have some fun!

I know many, many of you have been waiting for more colors to come out – and your dream came true! Altenew released the Artist Markers Set B and Set C with 12 colors in each set. Make sure to check out my video tutorial below to see them up close and to create a card with me! There is also a giveaway, so make sure to scroll down!

One of the many reasons I love these markers is because it is SO easy to layer them together without thinking too hard to see what colors to choose! Since they come out in shades of 4, just like their Crisp Dye Ink color families, you can easily blend them together. (or mix and match!)

I wanted to create a busy background and pop out the main sentiment using the Bold Alphabet Die. So, to start with the busy background, I chose the Just Because Stamp Set and stamped it with the Permanent Black Crisp Ink. This ink is great for alcohol marker coloring or watercoloring, just make sure to stamp it and let it dry to prevent bleeding.

I used some of the colors from the Marker Set B to color in the flowers and used a couple of colors from the Green Fields color family to fill in the leaves very loosely. I wanted these to be super loose, not colored detailedly.

After coloring is done, I placed “love” on top to cut out the word using the Bold Alphabet Die and popped them out using some foam tape. (and I did not realize until now that I put the letter ‘o’ upside down!) This creates a very fun dimensional on your project. I added a quick sentiment on the bottom of the card using the Heartfelt Sentiments Stamp Set. (this is a MUST-have set for all sentiment lovers!)

Are you excited for these new markers as much as I am? I’d love to hear what is your favorite color family to color with! Please comment below and share your pick with me!

  3. I have the first set and I’m excited for these 2!! I love your card and that technique is one of my fave!

  4. Lovely card and displayed so well some of these new colors for the marker collection! these markers are growing on me!

  5. This is very pretty and I love this technique of raising the ‘love’ sentiment (and I never would have noticed the ‘O’ unless you said something!). Well, my favorite color is purple so any variation of purple hues would be my favorite to color with.

  6. Love your technique of diecut sentiment on the image. Love your colour choice and your colouring is so beautiful ❤️

  7. I love the soft colors you used on this beautiful card. I can see how the color groupings would help make the use of these markers much easier.

  8. wonderful, love the way you colored the cards with the new markers. I think I’d use set b with the purples and grays. Thanks for sharing.

  9. My goodness, after viewing all of the creations on the Spellbinders Blog, I think I will give up my soft safe color combos for BRIGHT, STUNNING COLOR. Love the new looks. Love the Chantilly Dies and love the alcohol ink colors. Good Job everyone! Best regards, Sara

  10. I am still chuckling. I don’t think I would have caught it if you hadn’t mentioned it, and a recipient probably wouldn’t either. (Unless it was my sister–she notices all mistakes but never what you did right!!!) Thanks so much for a technique I still need to try!

  11. I only have the first set of markers and color with the pink/red colors all the time (they’re running out of color I use them so much). your card is so lovely, Nicole!

  12. I don’t think I would have noticed the O was upside down, it’s so pretty. I really like the large die cut letters.

  13. Love your use of die cuts for dimension – those alpha dies are on my wishlist. I like the colors in set A, but can’t wait to see the newest additions up close and personal. Thank you for inspiring us with your talent.

  14. I like the B set color. (Thanks for “keeping it real” and letting us see your little oopsie.) Thanks for sharing your beautiful card.

  15. Beautiful card, thanks for the coloring tips. I wouldn’t have known the “O”was upside down until I read that, lol. My favorite color group is the Glacial Caves you used, the purple-blues are sooo pretty.

  16. Your inlaid letter technique turned out beautiful. Loved the colors you choose for the flowers. Thanks for sharing.

  17. Nicole this card isn’t so pretty! I love how the markers give such control to add color… especially for heavy handed people like me.. makes coloring enjoyable

  18. Ooooooooo! Your card is divine perfection! Your sentiment technique is my new favorite way to add a sentiment to my cards! I was SO scared the first time I tried it but it came out awesome and I haven’t looked back since then! LOL
I am excited about the new markers and can’t wait to get them! TFS! ✨✨

  19. I gravitate towards the blue family.
That’s always been my favorite color.
    Love your card.
    thanks for sharing.

  20. You have made this look so simple, all that blending just flowed, want to go & have a go at this idea, have never seen it done before this so hopefully neither will anyone that I have just started making cards for x

  21. My goal is to be able to color as lovely as you do! Also, you are by far the best teacher at Altenew Academy! I know practice, practice, practice !

  22. I couldn’t get the video to play but I do like the card concept. I need a set of large alpha. Looks like fun

  23. The marker’s look so easy to use! They are high on my Christmas wish list! Your card is stunning. The popped up “Love” is awesome & your coloring is perfect. I usually head for blues as my favorite colors for coloring.

  24. Your card are so cheerful.. love these flowers and I know it’s hard to color but you did a fantastic job.

  25. Gorgeous!! What a great technique. It’s hard to pick a favorite color family of the new sets but I think I’d have to say gray – I’m really loving the grays lately and these ones are beautiful.

    • Congrats, Susan! You are the lucky winner of the blog hop giveaway!

  26. I love the stamped image and the die=cut word from the center. Thank you for sharing your oops of the upside down “o”. It happens to everyone. I once tried to use the inside of an “o” for a number 1. You just know something isn’t quite right!

  27. I love how you can get into some “tight” spots and still keep the colors. The dual tip looks very useful for the tight areas. Thanks for sharing your talent.

  28. I love your full back grounds too. The bold alphabet is great isn’t it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your take on using the ALTENEW markers. Xx

  29. This is beautiful Nicole.
I am a huge fan of all colours so I don’t really have one single colour family that I favor. I love both pastel and bold colours and everythjng in between. Lol

  30. I love your card but it was hard to see the word LOVE until I really looked at it. How can an O be upside down though? It’s the same either way, isn’t it? Love your coloring! Your card is very interesting, something I have never seen before. I like it. My favorite color in the whole wide world is yellow and I love it with orange and green but they have to be certain shades of orange and green. I’m picky about what goes with yellow. Thanks for showing us your unique card and for giving us the chance to win something. I want to win those markers!
