Hello there! Washi tapes have found its way into our cardmaking world not too long ago and it is not hard to see projects using them. Usually, washi tapes are small sized embellishments but Altenew has brought some perfectly sized washi tapes for cardmakers!
Last year Altenew showcased wide washi tapes that everyone loved and today they released brand-new washi tapes – lots of different sizes that everyone will enjoy! So today I am going to share two different cards you can create using these tapes along with other supplies to jazz up your projects.
Let’s start with the step-by-step video tutorial on how you can create these cards easily.
I really love how the 1st card turned out. It is simple and so much fun to create. And a great way to add lots of dimensions and depths on projects.
I created watercolor backgrounds using some water-based dye inks – Cool Summer Night mini cube set – with easy smooshing technique. The Galaxy washi tape was used to create a focal point along with the alphabet die set.
The 2nd card was created with even more easier way – just using the whole washi tape as a background.
I wanted to add a texture so ran the whole card front panel using a big die and dry embossed it using a die cutting machine. This Glitter Flurries washi tape is filled with lovely floral designs and gold foil accents which is so elegant and pretty.
For sentiment, I added simple Thank You greeting on a vellum cardstock and heat set it with a clear embossing powder.
Washi tapes are a great way to add a different flair to your projects – tell me, which of the new washi tapes are your favorites?

I love these big tapes. Beautiful cards can be made from these.Looking forward to seeing what I can do with these.
Lovely projects!
These are both smashing!
I really love the Glided Ombre Washi Tape and the Glitter Flurries Washi Tape. Purple is my thing and I really dig these new tapes–plus they are nice and large and easy to use (from what I have read/heard in videos). I like how you used the mandala die on the flurries washi tape; but I wish I could see the impact a bit better. Video and pics do not always do justice to talent! Thanks for your inspiration!
My two top favorites from this Washi Tape release are Galaxy and Glitter Flurries. Galaxy because it makes for a much easier night sky lol mine never look right to me and the Glitter Flurries because I love all things purple and all things shiny and it has both. This release opens up so many possibilities for easier cards, I love it!
Beautiful cards! These washi tapes are so beautiful! I’m really inspired to try them!

Well at every blog I hop, I find another great idea and more awesome cards! Your cards are stunning! I love them both! Thank you for the video, I really enjoy it. Really difficult to pick just one fav design of these new amazing washi tapes, I would say the Glitter Flurries washi tape but now I love the Galaxy washi tape too!!!
I love how you can die cut letters out of washi tape or use it for backgrounds and both cards you created are beautiful. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us.
Gee that is asking way too much to choose one favourite washi tape. Each time I think I know my favourite I see another card on the blog hop that changes my mind. The red ombre and the tuxedo are my favourite two, I think. Thank you for the video that shows how easy it is to create your stunning cards.
I love both of your cards. I adore the background of the first one. The more I see the Glitter Flurries tape, the more I love it.
Such lovely cards. I was wondering when someone would come up with using vellum over one of these Washi tapes. Such a lovely idea! I’m really loving these beautiful washi tapes. Gonna have to get me some 🙂
I REALLY like your first card1 Thank you for the video as well The wide washi tapes are gorgeous & that you can even die cut with them is a bonus. I love the Nebula & Red Ombre tapes the most.
Gorgeous! I love the galaxy ones, and the one with golden accents… That’s not to say I don’t like the other ones, LOL, but if I HAAAAAD to choose, these would be my top picks!
Wonderful cards using the washi tapes.
Great cards! Love the Glitter Flurries tape!
Who knew you could do such things with washi! Thank you for the inspiration!

Altenew has done it again! Another stunning release in the books!
Oh, the galaxy washi tape on top of a washy background like that is just beautiful. Thanks for the lovely ideas!
I’m such a sucker for flowers so I love all of the Altenew flower washi tapes, but especially the Glitter Flurries one because I love gold foil details! I love that the “YOU” on your galaxy card goes from a darker letter gradually to a brighter one
The washi is so wonderful with the big letter dies. Beautiful projects. TFS
