For today’s project, I wanted to go out of my regular color styles and do something vintage and simple. I also wanted to show a way where a basic black ink pad can be used more than just to stamp outlined images and sentiments for projects.

Don’t you just LOVE how lovely this card looks? I mixed and matched couple different colors to work with the black ink pad I used.

In this card, I used 2nd and 3rd generation stamping techniques to get various shades from just the black color. This is a great way to get more use out of any ink pads you have on hand. If you never tried it, I highly recommend giving a try!!

For the sentiment, I used the Label Love stamp set from Altenew and heat set it with gold embossing. I thought the gold color would go well with the black and other dark colors used on this card.

Make sure to watch the video tutorial above to see how the whole card comes together!

See below for all the products used in today’s project. Click  SSS for Simon Says Stamp, EH for Ellen Hutson, , ATN for Altenew, or AMZ for Amazon. All the products were personally purchased, otherwise noted. Enjoy shopping and happy creating!

  1. Love your card because of the soft quality it colors and the simplicity of the design. Thanks for the instructions you provided for the layering of flowers. Can’t wait to try it out.

  2. I really love the simplicity of your card and the elegance. I love the painted flowers also, but I know I would not have considered using black ink for layers 2 and 3! I will be trying this now! Thank you for a new viewpoint,

  3. Beautiful card! I love all of the Altenew cards that you do. This one is particularly simple and elegant!
