Hello there!
As watercolor continues to be a fun trend in cardmaking industry, my search for the “perfect fit” has been non-stop! Previously I shared a comparison video between two affordable, good quality watercolor mediums and today I wanted to share a “step up” brand than those two in today’s post.
I discovered Daniel Smith Extra-Fine Watercolor about a year ago when I was at CHA. I started with a sample color chart and fell in love, bought a full 238 Dot Color Chart right away! I am on my 2nd one now and have been loving it.
When creating a galaxy background, I tend to stick to some blue, gray, and black shades. But on today’s project, I decided to add a bit brighter colors to express bright parts of the space.
If you are new to watercolor and want to just have fun playing with all different sorts of colors, try doing a blending background! Whether it’d be a galaxy background or just a blended rainbow colors, you will have so much fun playing with the pigments and getting to know them.
Daniel Smith Extra-Fine Watercolor includes more than 230 colors! There is something for everyone. I especially love how fine they are, how the granulation works, and different properties that each color carries. AND, they are super transparent!! Great for multi-layering techniques.
For the sentiment, I used this cool phrase from Wplus9 Lucky Stars stamp set. I stamped it 4 times with Versa Fine Onyx Black Ink to make it stand out easily on top of all the colors that were blended. With just a couple of sequins, they for sure catch your eyes!
I hope you give Daniel Smith Extra-Fine Watercolor a try – you are going to LOVE it!
