Happy Wednesday! I shared this project couple days ago for Sweet Stamp Shop and thought I would share it here as well for those who missed it. In this video, I show how to create a fun “ocean-like” background using Distress Inks and misting a bit of water. You can watch the video below to see the background come together in action.
Creating the background is pretty simple and easy. I took out 4 different shads of green and mint that would reflect the color of the ocean. I used Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers, Broken China, and Salty Ocean.
I used the Mini Blending Tool to blend them in. My opinion on the tool? LOVE IT! They are very easy to work with and leave very little (almost none most of the time) streaks when blending colors. Great for working small areas and adding colors with stencils! I will do a more in-dept review of the Mini Blending Tool soon so you can get all the details about it.
Do you see those tiny dots on the background piece? After blending in those colors, I sprayed water using my water mist. TIP – you want to spray one time, very lightly, about a feet away from the card. Spraying multiple times and more than once or twice will totally blend the colors so it won’t leave any splatter patterns. Practice couple of times to see how the results come out and then move onto your real project!
I used Mr. Octopus Stamp Set from Sweet Stamp Shop to finish up the card. I love this octopus image – it is my fav! You can also see how I colored him using Copic Makers in the video.
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!!!!
