Thank you for joining us for the April Pals Blog Hop! To celebrate Earth Day, the April blog hop features new cards and projects that capture the essence of Earth Day through colors and images and/or use recycled or reused elements. We hope you are ready for some fun and creative ideas.
You should have just left stop number 8 on the Pals Hop – Kathleen Law at Craft With Kathleen. If so, you are in the right spot. If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.
I created a simple thank you card for today’s post. But, it has a fun technique behind it! 🙂 It is called a Selective Embossing Technique. Have you ever just wanted to emboss certain areas of your card? You can still enjoy all the wonderful embossing folders by Stampin; Up! and create partial embossing for your projects. Check out the tips and intstruction photos to learn how to do it your own!
SCRAPS & STAMPS TIP – Create a Custom Made Embossing Diffuser
– When you get Designer Series Papers from Stampin’ Up!, you will see there is a thin card board that comes on the back of the paper pack. I am going to recycle and reuse that to create my own embossing diffuser.
** You can create however you like it, depending on your project needs. Please make sure to experiment multiple times before working on your final project!!
– I have cut the chipboard into 6 pieces of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, a basic standard card size. This should be enough to go through the big shot and get embossings on your projects.
– Now, I am placing a framelit from the Labels Collection Framelits to create a hole on my diffuser pages. You can please wherever you like it and whichever shape you want on it. Make sure to do it for ALL 6 chipboard pieces.
– This is what it should look like when you do ALL 6 of them. You will need to make sure each of the whole is places on the same area of the pages.
– Now, put all of them together. I used a strong adhesive to make sure it will last multiple uses. Try our Sticky Strip for strong and long lasting hold! 🙂
– Next, run it though the big shot along with your choice of an embossing folder and a card stock. Make sure to control the tabs and play with your pressure, as each of big shot machine is little bit different.
– My personal combination: Multi Purpose Platform, 1 Cutting Pad on the bottom, Embossing Folder (card stock and the diffuser inside) and 2 sheams for the perfect pressure.
– And…. voala! This is the result you get!! I ran my Simply Scored Stylus around the non-embossed area, so it would stand out more. The embossing folder I chose is the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.
So I hope you learned something new today!! Make sure to give it a try 🙂 Have questions? Feel free to ask!! Thanks for stopping by!!
