Welcome to day 2 for Newton’s Nook Designs April Release! Today we are showcasing an awesome floral set called “Fanciful Florals.”
This is a great solid stamp set with lots of fun patterns that you can do a lot of different techniques on.
I created 2 cards using the same image to show that you can easily mass produce this card to give them as a card set. Set of cards make a perfect gift for anyone!
For the first card, I used the Blush and Bubblegum pigment ink pads from Mama Elephant. I first inked it up with Blush (the lighter color) and took the stamp to Bubblegum (the darker color) and did “rock & roll” technique to get darker shade around the edge of the image.
This technique creates a nice variations to the card, without adding too many things onto the project. Also, this is a great way to stretch your ink pads!
You might worry the lighter ink getting onto the darker ink pad. No worries – because we are using pigment inks, it takes time for it to absorb other colors. So after you are done stamping, simply scrap the lighter ink from the darker ink pad with a scratch paper. Simple!
For the second card, I went with the purple shades – used Sweet Lilac and Eggplant ink pads from Mama Elephant. I also stamped the sentiment on both cards using the Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Another thing I did to the flowers was to heat embossed them using clear embossing powder. Pigment inks are nice because they take some time to dry, so after you stamp an image, you can quickly pour embossing powders over them and heat set it.
To complement both colors, I thought a nice blue would be great as a background. I took out the Life. Love. Paper patterned paper from my stash and added it on both cardbase. I also cut a corner of each layer diagonally so that the background paper can peek out more.
