Hello there! Happy Friday!

The very first projects I created for the new year are two simple yet classy looking cards featuring simple cardmaking techniques. The techniques may not be new, but they showcase lovely, brand-new products you won’t want to miss.

Altenew released its first stamp/die products for 2020 and the line up is just amazing. From solid images to watercolored looks to beautiful layering, there is something for everyone. When I saw the designs for this month’s release, I immediately was drawn to these two stamps: Mod Vases and Vase Fillers.

These stamps may be simple solid stamps, but they offer such a variety where you can mix and match different designs to create endless possibilities of elegant floral arrangements!

Mod vase stamp set is really cool where it gives just a simple stamp layering yet it gives enough layer to add the perfect amount of depth on your projects. The first card I created here showcases the vase stamped in a lighter blue shade for the 1st layer, and a darker blue shade for the 2nd layer.

I stamped the filler images from the Vase Filler stamp set and heat embossed in gold to create some timeless feel on the card. Blue and gold is a perfect combination to create some modern look in my opinion.

The sentiment was stamped in a dark purple and I splattered some silver metallic pigments to add a bit more shine and interest to the card.

The 2nd project was definitely made to create a very modern vase look, with a black body and a gold bottom. The photo above is a little funky (I am still working on getting the right light at my new studio) but in person, it just looks stunning!

I used a different shaped vase from the Mod Vases stamp set and stamped the first later in black and heat embossed the second layer in gold.

The fillers were stamped in light blue and light purple to add some color and contrast on the card.

I stamped the sentiment in navy blue and splattered gold pigment to match the gold heat embossing of the vase.

I hope you enjoyed the projects I’ve shared today. I hope to be back real soon with a new video tutorial!

  3. I wasn’t sure what the mod vases would be used for but your cards are gorgeous using the vases and the various flowers and stems. thank you

  4. I love what you did with the mod vases! So creative and what inspiration! My favorite so far is the Tartan Plaid set.

  5. The Simple Beauty set has caught my eye. I hope to see some more examples of it. But the vases are really unique with their different shapes.

  6. Everything in this release is amazing, love the new dies but it is really hard to avoid falling in love with the stamps too! your cards are fabulous, love the “gold dipped” vases. Thanks as always for the fabulous inspiration Nicole!

  7. Love the use of the gold on your works of art. So many wonderful new products but I think my new fave is the tartan stamp set.

  8. Mod vase and vase fillers. What great sets! Versatile and fun! Thanks for showing what can be created with them.

  9. Great cards using the Vases Nicole. My favourites are the Tartan stamp set & the Incredible Floral stamp set. Now that I’ve seen your cards, I may have to add the Vases to my list. lol

  10. Love your cards… clean and simple and beautiful! This is a wonderful release; my favorites are the Tartan Plaid and Wild Flora sets, but all are just great!

  11. Love your use of Mod Vases stamp set. I can see this set being versatile for sooo many occasions like wedding, Anniversary, birthday, thinking of you, or sympathy. Awesome release as always.

  12. I just adore both of the stamp sets you used and you truly inspired me with your cards, love your work!

  13. Beautiful cards! I love the gold embossing on the bottom of the vase on the second card. It’s really lovely.

  14. Love your cards with the mod vases and fillers. It is very hard to choose a favorite from this release, but the top of my must have list is the tartan maker and also the plantine stamps and dies.

  15. Such soft, pretty cards, Nicole. I like the gold touches. These new bigger vases are awesome! Thanks for your inspiration!

  16. I didn’t think that I needed these vases because I already have Versital Vases set but I ended up ordering this along with the palms.

  17. Your cards are so gorgeous! I love the layering designs. My problem is that with a partial blind eye I often don’t get the layers correctly so I have been shying away from those stamps more lately. It seems the older I get the worse it is.

  18. The hello and hugs stamp set and die would be my favorite from what you have listed above but I am really enjoying seeing the water color halftone examples throughout the blog hop. I really like all the soft colors that you included on your cards! That really is fun and draws your eye all over the card to enjoy, plus the gold accents! Very fun indeed!!!!

  19. I think your cards are “simply” beautiful and this release is way too much for me to take in at one time. I haven’t made my choices yet, but am working on it! Lol!
