Happy Friday, everyone! I am so excited to be playing along for a special blog hop hosted by Altenew today. This cardmaking and stamping hobby has brought so many blessings into my life, and one of the biggest blessings is without a doubt wonderful friends I got to meet!Today we are celebrating another day of Crafty Friends Blog Hop – you will get to check out each designers participating in this hop that is going on for 2 days! Hear the stories, inspirations, and projects we are sharing today and hope you can share some of that with me here too.

We have lots of giveaways, so stay tuned till the end of the blog post!

Before I get into more details about the project I created today, I have to apologize for project photos that might look a bit different than my usual photos. Due to the wildfire near my area, we haven’t seen sunny/blue skies in many many days so I couldn’t get a natural lighting. My apologies!

This project was inspired by an amazing craft friend of mine, one whom I love dearly – Lydia Evans. I got to know Lydia while working on various projects together for Altenew and she just never does fail to amaze me. She is sweet and lovely and I just adore her. Too bad she is all the way in the UK and I am here in the US, but we work so well together and have become good friends!

One of the things I admire of her is that her projects are always so stunning! And she is so good at using stencils for various looks using inks, which inspired me to create a background for today’s card!

So I took out some of the Goldfish Tails 6 Mini Cube Set and decided to go with the fall colors. I wanted something warm and bold for the cold season.

This card was not hard to create at all – I took out the Feathered Leaves Stencil that was just released and used 4 different colors from the set to blend them in with my mini blender.

You will be surprised that these colors are not from the original 4 color set – but those 6 mini cubes sets were curated so you can use various shades from a different color family and stretch the purpose of the colors. Don’t these colors just go so well together with each other?

I wanted to highlight the background, so I kept the sentiment super simple with a sweet quote from the Sentiments & Quotes Stamp Set and heat embossed it in a gold embossing powder on Jet Black Cardstock. Finishing touches were black enamel dots.

  1. I love to send a handmade card to a friend I haven’t seen for a while. It’s always a good prompt to rekindle our friendship again and I’ve found they always really appreciate the beautiful card. PS. Your card almost looks a little inspired by the raging wildfires that you mentioned. I LOVE the color blending.

I love watching peoples faces light up when they receive a card from me.

  4. Simple elegance. Very nice. I love the connections with family and grandkids through sharing past memories through my hobby!

  5. I have made so many new friends through card making.
I was taking reservations for a high tea and got to talking
to the lady making the reservations. I told her I was
making the favors and one thing led to another – I now have
six ladies who come to my house once a month to work
on cards. I come up with the ideas and show them
how to make them. It’s great for all of us.
    thanks for sharing

  6. I think my biggest blessing with crafting has been being able to bond with my mom more. My earliest memories of crafting are with her and she encourages and inspires me to try new things!

  7. I love paper crafts and making cards is my all-time favorite thing to create. The biggest joy for me is being able to customize a card for someone. I know I have so much fun making the card, but I like to think it makes the recipient feel extra-special because he/she knows that it was made just for him/her.

I love the stencil background and the warm yellow tones you used on it.

  8. I love how you used the design and color. Thinking of so many of my California family and friends and praying for tons of rain!!!

  9. My greatest blessing is sending a handmade card to honor the recipient along with my loving thoughts. I live the coloring on your card, Nicole! Thanks for your tips!

  10. I am blessed to be able to share my hobby with my grandchildren! They love making cards along with me! It is great to share a hobby between generations!!

Love the simplicity of your cards!

  11. Your ombre background is lovely. I’ll have to check out the Altenew ink cube collections to get some new colors! For me, cardmaking is almost like meditation. You get so engrossed in creating that your mind lets go of stress & you feel re-energized afterwards.

  12. Nice use of the feathered leaves stencil as your background. I love the ombre effect. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us.

  13. Love the background and that Feathered stencil! That colors you chose are amazing. Thanks for sharing this lovely card with us!

  14. Wow Nicole, how pretty is this? These colours DO blend beautifully together, thanks for sharing that tip, it’s good to know. A beautiful stencil as well.
My greatest blessing through crafting came with the bond that I was able to make with my daughter in law. She came into our family as a very shy young woman who was extremely reserved and quiet. She was impossible to shop for at Christmas/birthday because she said she had no hobbies or interests…. By the time they were engaged she asked me to make their invitations and with her help we designed what she wanted. Since then, she has opened up like one of Altenew’s blooms and we have a blast chatting while we play together in my craft room or HERS! (YUP, she’s ‘one of us’ now AND I love it)!

  15. My biggest blessing is I can use my love of Cardmaking to support my ministry and missions projects.

  16. Your card is stunning and I do love the color combination.
Having been in the stamping world for over 20 years I have to say that my greatest blessin has been the friendships I have created with other stampers. The kindness and generous attitude of crafters will never cease to amaze me. I love my “Crafty” friends.

  17. I have made so many friends from around the world through sharing my love for papercrafting and digital scrapbooking!!! I love that we all have this common thread and are able to enjoy and share what we live to do!!!

  19. I love your card. The warm, bold colors are beautiful. I can’t wait to get the stencils now. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

  20. Pretty card, the colors blend so well together. The biggest blessing I have received from paper crafting hobby is connecting with some wonderful, positive people.

  21. The biggest blessing from this hobby is of course the friends I have made along the way. I love to create, need to create, but it’s so much more fun when I can share with others. The bonds of friendship are strengthened with this sharing and with the kindness to one another. BTW love your card. 🙂

  22. I love the colors together. What a great use of the stencil. I love the release of anxiety I get when I crafting. I am not an artsy person my nature so creating something I am proud of is a nice feeling.

  23. I like CAS cards too. I sold some of my cards at a store; it was very gratifying to know that others liked my work too.

  24. Fabulous card, Nicole! I love the warm colors and how you let the background be the focal point. For me, crafting has been a way to cope with depression. It makes me feel good to create something, and through reading the blogs, I feel like I’m somehow connected to other cardmakers by our shared interest.

  25. I’m enjoying all the inspiration along the Crafty Friends blog hop! Gorgeous card with this pretty ombre coloring!

  28. First of all—I love the warm colors of your card–especially on this cold December day! The feathered leaves stencil with the warm colors showing through, reminds me of a fire burning in the fireplace. Very cozy! Beautiful job. The greatest blessing I’ve received in this hobby of mine, is the opportunity to be inspired and grow from all of the wonderful creativity of this crafting community! I have learned so much since I began my card making journey 6 years ago, and I owe it all to people like you who are so willing to share their gifts to inspire and teach people like me.
TFS–have a warm and blessed Christmas!

  30. The stencilling is absolutely gorgeous! I love this card. I started cardmaking as a hobby after I quit work to be a full-time mom. Over the years I have taught myself different techniques and really enjoyed the journey. My biggest blessing is this hobby has given me the opportunity to reclaim my dream of designing.
