Welcome to this week’s brand-new Fresh Take Friday episode! (This is my 3rd post today – For special 20% discount codes on SSS and Ellen Hutson, please click HERE / For my 1st post, click HERE)
I was inspired by this week’s challenge over at Case Study. If you have a chance to do some cardmaking this weekend, make sure to participate in the challenge! For my card, I decided to focus on the color scheme.
I don’t know about you, but I am really digging watercoloring at the moment and having so much fun experimenting with different products. I do not own too many watercolor products but I will expand my “collection” as I go on. If you are just starting with watercolor and don’t want to invest in it with too much money, I highly recommend trying out the Lowe Cornell Watercolor Set – I got it only for $7 and it works great!! You can always move on to the higher quality products when you feel comfortable with it.
The background color has two different shades of yellow. I always like to start with lighter color and add few areas of darker color when creating a watercolor background. It seems to be easier for me when I blend the shades.
Another tip, really important tip, if you want a really well blended look, make sure to saturate your watercolor paper with clean water first, then add your colors. They will blend nicely with minimal effort.
I love this bold and lovely sentiment from the Make A Wish Stamp Set by Mama Elephant. I stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and added few stars using the Hero Arts Charcoal Ink Pad. Then I went in with my Wink of Stella Glitter Pen to add nice shimmer on those cute stars.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card and the tutorial! Let me know if you have any questions – I’d be happy to answer!!
Have a great weekend!
