Hello there! I hope you are enjoying the summer and staying cool! Crating is always a good excuse to stay indoor and avoid the hot weather, don’t you think? Especially when you are playing with brand-new products!ย

One of the reasons I LOVE the crafting community is the support and love we give each other as crafters and entrepreneurs. We know how much we all love stamping and paper crafting, we also know how hard it is to start/run a business! That’s why it always exciting to see a new stamp company popping up and soaring.

I have the pleasure of being a part of this amazing start of the company called Heffy Doodle. I met Lesley, the owner of HD, in the beginning of this year at CHA and was more than thrilled to hear that she embarked on a new adventure and asked me to celebrate it with her! So today, we are celebrating the very first release from Heffy Doodle in Kickstarter! There’s also a giveaway so make sure to read through!

I’ve played with the Elephant of Surprise stamp set and the coordinating die set to create today’s project. Isn’t the elephant seriously so cute?!

To create a background for the elephant, I cutout a circle using a circle die and a masking sheet and adhered it onto the card front (negative part of the masking sheet). Then I used a light gray ink pad and an ink blending tool to add a light color to the exposed area.

I took out two sentiments from the Elephant of Surprise set to create a continued stamping look on the circle part of the card. To create a subtle effect, I used a medium gray ink pad for this to match the light gray color I added to the circle.

The elephant was stamped on a white cardstock and colored with some Copic markers. I used C0, C1, and C4 for the whole image, and used B20 to add cheek colors on him. The picture does not show, but he is sparkling! You can use a clear shimmer pen to add sparkles easily.

Finishing touches cannot be missed! “I think you’re Elephantastic” is from the stamp set and is heat embossed with white embossing powder. Few light gray sequins and silver sequins were added for nice textures and interest on the card.

Background stamping on a focused area can really help your stamped image shine! This way you can keep the card clean and simple, yet add a lot of various looks on the card at the same time.
