Hello! I am back with another card featuring a new die from Top Dog Dies. Today I am going to share a super easy but awesomely textured card using the Modern Mosaic background die. I wanted to use some of the metallic embossing powders as well. This is so simple in steps so let’s get right to it!
I am using Neenah Solar White Cardstocks for both card base and for the die cut layer. For the card base, I like to use 110lb cardstock for some nice weight to hold the rest of the card together well. For the layer, I used 80lb cardstock. This is a bit more easier to cut detailed patterned using the die.
Top Dog Dies has great collection of background dies and I especially love two dies that were recently released: Flower Lace Background Die and Modern Mosaic Background Die. They cut out very easily and if you need a bit more pressure for your die cut machine to get all those details, you can use Metal Adapter Sheet. This is a must have for anyone who uses die cut machine! Each die cut machine can be different so make sure you experiment to get the best die cut results.
After cutting out the cardstock, I inked up the whole piece with Versa Mark Ink Pad. Then I brought in some Gold Embossing Powder and Copper Embossing Powder from WOW!. I randomly poured them so they can mix well together. Heat up your heat tool for about 20 sec before bring it to the layer piece for quick heat and less paper warping. To attach the die cut piece, I used regular paper adhesive and gave generous run on each part of the cut out piece. You can use liquid glue if you like, but I like runner adhesives for these kind of layers.
As a sentiment, I used “thank you” greeting from Altenew’s Magnolias for Her stamp set. I stamped it on to the Black cardstock and heat set it using some White Embossing Powder from WOW!. To dress up the card, I used couple of white enamel dots around the sentiment area.
Metallic embossing powders are awesome supplies to dress up any die cut piece. Play around with them and see how you like them!
